EKU Men’s Tennis Sweeps Doubleheader Against Union College – Eastern Kentucky University Athletics


RICHMOND, Ky. –The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team (4-3, 0-0 ASUN) swept the doubleheader against Union College (Ky.) (0-2, 0-0 AAC) by the scores of 6-1 and 5-2 on Wednesday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center. The Colonels improved to a 4-0 record at home this season.

To begin the first dual match, Fernando Bulnes and Evzen Holis won their doubles match from the No. 1 court, 6-4. Then, Ryan Kitchin earned his first Division I doubles win with J.Anurag Reddy from the No. 3 spot, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point.

Holis dominated his singles match in straight sets from the No. 2 court, 6-0, 6-0. Moritz Mayer won in singles play in straight sets from the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 7-5.

Mario Monclus Martin earned his first career collegiate singles win from the top court in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5.

Bulnes earned a straight-set victory in singles from the No. 3 position, 6-2, 6-3. Reddy won his singles match from the No. 5 spot in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.

In the second match, the Colonels won from the top two courts in doubles play to take a one-point advantage. Cameron Hamilton played in his first career collegiate singles and doubles matches in the second contest.

Monclus Martin won his second singles match of the day from the top court, 6-3, 1-0, retired.

Mayer won his fifth singles match of the season from the No. 2 spot in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Kristoffer Stahlbrand earned his first singles win of the season from the No. 3 position in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Reddy won his second singles match of the day from the No. 4 court, 7-5, 3-2, retirement.
