Willis Reed, a legendary player for the New York Knicks, died on Wednesday after having problems with his heart. His former teammate Bill Bradley confirmed this to The New York Times. He was 80. Reed helped the Knicks win championships in 1970 and 1973 while he was on the team. He was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 1973 NBA Finals. After he stopped playing, he became a coach for the New York Knicks, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Sacramento Kings before taking over the New Jersey Nets. He worked his way up at the Nets until he was senior vice president of basketball operations. During that time, in 2002 and 2003, the team made it to the NBA finals. He then went to work for the New Orleans Hornets. In 2007, he finally quit the business.
