A woman who dresses in “mob wife aesthetic” every day says the style “exudes confidence” and “makes women feel powerful”.
Sarah Arcuri, 29, has been dressing in bold fur coats, heeled boots, big gold jewellery and sunglasses for years. She’s an advocate of the ‘mob wife’ style seen in films like The Godfather and The Sopranos.
The brunette gets her clothes second-hand from vintage stores because “it’s not about labels and what you have in the bank”. Most importantly, the author from Montclair, New Jersey, US, says the trend encourages women to be “unapologetically themselves”.

Sarah said: “I’ve always been into old school glamour and I’ve dressed like this as long as I can remember.
“The number one staple is a faux fur coat and not being afraid to wear one too many accessories. You can choose your muse and it can be your inspiration to guide your mob wife style.”
Sarah clarified she has dressed and styled herself in this way long before the term ‘mob wife aesthetic’ was coined.
Celebs like Khloe Kardashian are loving the ‘mob wife’ look, with Khloe recently sharing a snap of herself in a fur coat, captioned: “It’s giving mob wife vibes”.
Sarah, a fan of the trend, says it’s for “everyone” and “anyone can participate” because it’s low-cost. She shared: “I used to shop fast fashion and realised it’s terrible all round – things go out of fashion so quickly. So much ends up in landfill, but buying second hand is a good transition away from fast fashion.”
Sarah loves how the trend boosts confidence. She explained: “Mob wives were unapologetically themselves. You have to have nerve and be tough and stand up for yourself and that’s what this trend is about.

“I think it exudes a confidence, you walk into a room and you’re not afraid to take up space. It says ‘I am who I am, and I’m proud of it’.”
And it’s not just Sarah loving the ‘mob wife’ look, according to trend consultancy Journo Research, Google searches for ‘mob wife” have increased more than 2,000% in the last three months, while its hashtag has gained 161 million views on TikTok.
