Travis Kelce, a football player, used Taylor Swift’s song You Belong With Me to pose an important topic during a Super Bowl afterparty on Sunday.
Swift and Kelce, both 34, were celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory at the Zouk nightclub in Resorts World, Las Vegas.
The Chainsmokers, the event’s DJ, performed a hit song from 2008 to remember the Chiefs’ victory and Swift’s attendance at the party, which was filmed in a TikTok video.
Kelce may be heard in the video singing the song. When he reached the chorus, the tight end made considerable changes to the lyrics.
“Are you in love with me?” Instead of singing, “You belong with me,” he sang while pointing to himself in the video.
Kelce was dancing in the DJ booth alongside The Chainsmokers at the time, and he hugged Drew Taggert after they played the song’s club remix.
“I didn’t know if I should play it or not,” Taggert replied to Kelce, according to the video’s caption.
According to the video commentary, The Chainsmokers “moved a song in the setlist up for the occasion,” and the effort was “worth it.”
Swift did not appear to be in the DJ booth when “You Belong With Me” was playing. He sung “Are you in love with me?” Kelce turned to face someone who was not on camera.
Keleigh Teller shared an additional perspective of the event on TikTok, showing Swift pointing at Kelce. When the song “Why can’t you see/you belong with me” started, Swift pointed, sang along, and raised her glass to someone.
Swift and Kelce kissed and hugged as they celebrated the Chiefs’ thrilling overtime victory on the pitch.
