Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. Win the Most Awards at Bafta 2024 and for ‘Oppenheimer’

Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. received honors and recognition at the 77th British Academy Film honors for their parts in Oppenheimer, one of the top films of 2023.

Murphy was named best actor for his depiction of J Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, while Downey Jr. received best supporting actor honors.

The film received seven Bafta awards, including Best Film.

Poor Things received five awards, including best actress, which went to Emma Stone.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph won Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Holdover.

Though Oscar and Bafta voters rarely agree 100%, Oppenheimer and the cast stars may be able to win again at the Oscars, which take place in three weeks.

Michael J. Fox made an unexpected cameo on Sunday to present Oppenheimer as the winner of the ceremony’s top prize, best film.

The 62-year-old, who has had Parkinson’s disease for more than 30 years, received a standing ovation.

“Oh, boy. Holy Moly. “Thank you very much, Bafta,” Murphy said after winning his first Bafta of his career.

The Irish actor also thanked his “Oppenhomies” and praised Nolan for his maiden Bafta win.

“Thank for always pushing me and demanding excellence because that is what you deliver time and time again,” he went on to say.
