CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WCMH) — A man faces multiple charges after a Ross County deputy found drugs in his pocket and inside his car after the suspect resisted arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office said that a patrol deputy stopped a vehicle committing traffic violations on Sunday and tried to stop the car near U.S. Route 23 and Three Locks Road. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 34-year-old Ethan Depugh, did not stop for the deputy and he was pursued.
Depugh lost control of his car during the pursuit as he turned onto Toad Hollow Road and the deputy noticed Depugh trying to conceal something in the passenger seat. After Depugh exited the vehicle, he resisted arrest before being handcuffed and continued to resist until he was placed in a cruiser, per the RCSO.
Inside Depugh’s pockets were suspected illegal drugs, glass pipes, and over $1,000 in cash. A large bag of drugs was also found in the passenger seat of his vehicle, per the Sheriff’s Office. Depugh has been placed inside Ross County jail and faces the following charges:
- Failure to comply with the order or signal of an officer
- Resisting arrest
- Obstructing official business
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
The Sheriff’s Office said he could face additional charges pending lab testing of the suspected drugs found.
