BOWIE, MD — With two games left in 2023-24 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference and regular season, the Bowie State women’s basketball program travel to Peterburg, Va., to face Virginia State in the Multipurpose Center on Wednesday Feb. 21 with a tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs (13-12, 7-8 CIAA, 2-6 North) won a previous matchup against Bluefield State by the score of 70-63 Monday Feb. 19. Three players scored double figures with the likes of Anii Harris leading the pack with 20 points. Mia Smith added 14 points and two steals off the bench. Jayla Irvin contributed 13 points and two steals. The defensive effort from BSU also held the Lady Blues to only 38.1 percent shooting from the field. The Bulldogs collected 21 rebounds from the offensive glass which resulted in 21 second chance points. BSU ranks fourth in both combined team rebounding (40.2) and team offensive rebounding (14.4) per game.
Last Outing for The Lady Trojans
The Lady Trojans (20-4, 11-4 CIAA, 5-3 North) won the last matchup against Elizabeth City State in CIAA style by a score of 63-59. VSU saw two players score in double figures. Amesha Miller led with 18 points five rebounds and two blocks. Raija Todd chipped in with 12 points respectively. Virginia State is currently second in the conference in team field goal percentages with 43.6 percent and scoring averaging 70 points per game.
