Samsung announces new AI features for its Galaxy Buds audio wearables: What it means for users |

Samsung launched its latest flagship lineup, the Galaxy S24 series in January. With this lineup, the South Korean-tech giant also introduced new Galaxy AI features. The company claims that these secure on-device AI features will help users to break down language barriers. Now, Samsung is bringing its Galaxy AI features to its Galaxy Buds lineup of audio devices.
The company claims that the range of hands-free, AI-powered features will not only upgrade the audio experience of Galaxy Buds’ but will also help users to seamlessly connect to Samsung’s ecosystem. These new Galaxy Buds features will work with multiple Samsung devices including the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy Book4 series, Samsung TVs and more.

Samsung Galaxy Buds AI features: Availability

The update that will add the AI features and improve connectivity will be rolled out for Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Buds 2 and Buds FE models in late February.

Samsung Galaxy Buds AI features: Key highlights

With this update, the Galaxy S24 series’ real-time translation features will be added to the Galaxy Buds. When a Galaxy S24 smartphone is paired with Galaxy Buds, it will further optimise the feature by separating sound during conversation. Users can listen to translations through their earbuds, while the other person hears through their phone speaker.
This will help users to focus better on the conversation and eliminate the need to pass their device back and forth. Moreover, this feature will also allow users to swap the order of speech during the conversation by simply tapping on the Galaxy Buds. For this, users won’t need to manually adjust the order with their phone.
In 2023, Samsung introduced Auracast for Samsung Smart TVs on the Galaxy Buds2 Pro. This feature transforms a TV into a shared radio station that can be broadcasted across multiple Galaxy Buds. Now, with the latest update, this feature is coming to phones and tablets including the Galaxy S24 series.
The update will also add the 360 Audio feature. This feature delivers surrounding sound from all directions. Previously, it was supported on phones and tablets. This 360 Audio will now be available for TVs as well. This will offer a theatre-like experience at home. With this update, the Galaxy Buds will also be able track the user’s head movement to create a truly immersive soundscape.
With this update, Galaxy Buds will also get an Auto Switch feature that automatically shifts the earbuds’ connection between devices. For example if the user is watching their Samsung TV with their Galaxy Buds and receives a call. This feature will automatically switch the Galaxy Buds’ audio to the user’s Galaxy phone and then switch it back when the call ends. With this update, Samsung will also extend this feature to PCs including the Galaxy Book 4 series.
