Music, poetry to come from around the world to Manchester

MANCHESTER — Taconic Music presents a special afternoon of music and poetry at the Manchester Community Library at 2 p.m. March 2.

Area residents from Southern Vermont’s vibrant international community will speak briefly about their personal journeys to the United States and read a poem in their native tongue, along with a translation in English. Music from their country of origin — some traditional melodies, some pieces by classical composers — will be paired with each poem and performed by Joana Genova and Heather Braun, violins; Ariel Rudiakov, viola, and Nathaniel Parke, cello.

The event features Elizabeth von Riesenfelder (Hungary); Yiannis John Maltezos (Greece); Andrea Thulin (Chile); Anne D’Olivo (England), and Lei Annabelle Liu (China). Admission is free.
