BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – They’ve been working together for over two years, and now they’re wanting to give back.
Houchens Industries reached out to Southern Kentucky Technical Community & Technical College in 2021 to help further train their higher ups in the company to prepare them for their roles with workforce development, and over that time, they came to learn about a venture that SKYCTC has been happy to offer students over the past five years – their Pathfinder Pantry.
News 40 stopped by the main campus in Bowling Green Wednesday to talk to Houchens and SKYCTC officials, who said they’re happy to start and continue this partnership moving forward. The company said they want to be able to help out SKY as much as they can, and in turn, SKY wants to be able to offer anyone in the community the best education and training they are able to.
The pantry has been garnering steady use over the years, and the administration is hoping that even more students will take advantage of the pantry, as they know food insecurity is a growing issue among many people in the country.
