WEBB COUNTY, Tex. (KGNS) – Several families residing off Highway 359 were the beneficiaries of free food and informational services, thanks to the efforts of a local group.
On Wednesday, February 21, the Creciendo Juntos Coalition organized a Health Service and Food Distribution Fair at the Border Flea Market. The event attracted people seeking guidance on various medical and social support programs.
Anel Torres, representing the Area Health Education Center, emphasized the significance of such events in connecting residents with vital resources. “If they need help filling out their applications for food stamps or Medicaid, we have different entities, we have Gateway, we have Mercy Ministries as well, so we’re hoping that people can come in and find the resources that they need,” Torres stated. “If they don’t, then we’ll take that information with us and hopefully we can bring back those agencies that can assist them.”
For individuals unable to attend today’s event, the Coalition announced plans to host similar fairs every other month, with information disseminated through social media channels.
