PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — OSF Healthcare has partnered with GE HealthCare and PointCore as way to improve patient care by o work toward improving patient care by scheduling regular software updates.
The 10-year collaboration ensures technology be regularly updated within their imaging machines like MRI and CT scanning. Jim Mormann, the CEO for Integrative Solutions and PointCore, said each piece of equipment is expected to last at least 15 years, however, software is constantly changing.
The contract between the three entities starts on March 1. Upgrades will begin on legacy equipment, with a goal of having 70% of equipment upgraded within the next three years.
“This gave us the opportunity to ensure the fact that any place you go within the OSF ministry across the board from Michigan to St Louis, that you have the latest and greatest equipment.” said Mormann.
The agreement has two key parts. The first being an alliance on investing in new technology, digital resources, and service in their nuclear medicine, oncology, and radiology. The second, allowing OSF to reinvest in care for their patients across all of their facilities.
OSF is one of the first to integrate GE HealthCare’s new Digital Expert Access with remote scanning. This means all software will be updated on a regular basis in all systems, to ensure rapid and accurate imaging for all patients.
“I hope the patients get the chance to understand that OSF’s continued dedication to the advancement of the latest and greatest clinical care is here. It’s available in their communities.” said Mormann.
