WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville Carnegie Public Library has started a winter pantry project called the Good Neighbor Pantry. The pantry, which will be available during the month of February, is located right inside the entryway to the library, located at 115 9th St., Wellsville.

“You don’t need a to be a library patron to the pantry, which is the library’s way of helping their neighbors in the community,” said Library Director Tracee Murphy.

“Our mission is to serve our community in many ways and this is just more way that we can do that,” a social media post for the pantry said.

The library is starting out small with the pantry and is requesting those who use it take what they need and leave some for others. Those in need do not need to ask for assistance in getting the food, they can simply step inside the entryway and take what they need during library hours.

The pantry is being stocked by food donations dropped off from community members.

Murphy is currently anticipating the pantry to end at the end of February due to lack of food donations at this time. Murphy said she would love to see it become something permanent at the library, but that will depend on the amount of donations received.

To make a donation, call or stop by the library.
