WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Pilots flying into Watertown International Airport will now get a little more help sticking the landing in cloudy conditions.
The airport announced the new lighting system to runway 28 on Wednesday.
It’s designed to assist pilots landing in poor visibility conditions.
The airport says the navigation aid known as a “Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System with Runway Alignment Indicators,” is one of just a few being installed across the nation.
The system was funded through a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration and awarded to the airport in 2021.
