BU’s “Sound of Music” breaks theater’s reservation record

BLUEFIELD, Va. (WVVA) -Bluefield University’s newest production of the Sound of Music is hitting record numbers. The classic and true story of a nun-in-training falling in love during a Nazi takeover has become Bluefield University Theater’s highest reserved show ever. There’s been a significant increase in online ticket sales for this play, and they’re expecting walk-up sales to show a similar increase. Charles Reese, the theater’s artistic director calls the success a “phenomenon” that he credits to popularity of the story and to the ever-growing talent of the cast.

“…I don’t think I’ve seen a cast that was better put together than this one. I mean, there is not a weak link in the cast. Even down to the nuns and the crowd. It is… just a great chemistry as an ensemble, and they just have so much energy,” says Reese.

The show’s success has led to a longer run for the production, meaning you’ll have one more chance to see this phenomenon for yourself Monday, February 26th at 7:30 pm.
