Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates with the residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime events through February 19, 2024.
Fraud
A victim of Fraud – All Other was reported on o2/13/12024. The total estimated loss was $2,655. The deputy made verbal contact with someone who wanted to report the theft of their American Airlines flyer miles.
Burglary
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 02/13/2024. The total estimated loss was $1,650. While the victim was inside Walgreens, a vehicle parked adjacent to the Blue Kia Forte. Surveillance footage reveals that the window of the Blue Kia Forte was smashed by the person in the other vehicle.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 02/16/2024. The total estimated loss was $730. An unknown subject stole an AR-15 from the victim’s vehicle.
A victim of Burglary Residence was reported on 02/13/2024. The total estimated loss was $255. Two victims reported a burglary.
A victim of Burglary Conveyance was reported on 02/19/2024. The total estimated loss was $150. Two vehicles were broken into in an unsuccessful attempt to steal them.
Theft
A victim of Auto Theft was reported on 02/17/2024. The total estimated loss was $10K. The security guard said he saw four suspicious individuals possibly stealing a vehicle and attempting to break into another.
Walgreens was the victim of Theft -Retail / Shoplifting, which was reported on 02/15/2024. The total estimated loss was $130. An unknown female suspect left the store with grooming products without paying.
Sun Vista Gardens Condos was the victim of Theft-All Other, which was reported on 02/15/2024. The total estimated loss was $100. An unknown female resident is seen on CCTV stealing dumbbells from the community gym.
Sawgrass Infiniti was a victim of Auto Theft and was reported on 02/14/2024. The business reported that an unknown subject stole a returned vehicle.
A victim of Auto Theft was reported on 02/16/2024. The victim’s ex-boyfriend picked up the victim’s vehicle from the mechanic and decided not to return it to her.
A victim of Auto Theft was reported on 02/15/2024. A known subject admitted to the victims that he took their vehicle without permission, got into an accident in Miami-Dade County, and abandoned the car there.
Fire
A victim of Fire was reported on 02/14/2024. The renter was cooking, and a fire started on the stove. Tamarac Fire Rescue responded and put the fire out.
Arrests
Hallmon, Erick, Jack, 30, was arrested on a charge of Damage Property-Criminal Mischief – $1000 Dollars Or More on 02/13/2024.
Excellent, Franck, 39, was arrested on a Larceny – Grand Theft 750 Less than 5k Dollars charge on 02/13/2024.
Gunderson, Amy, Banay, 31, was arrested on a charge of Criminal Mischief Damage Less than $200 on 02/15/2024.
Short, Tristen, Nicole, 37, was arrested on a charge of Dui Alcohol Or Drugs 1 Offense at 4500 NW 21st Avenue on 02/17/2024.
