4-year-old girl dies after being hit by car outside San Tan Valley home


SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — A young girl has died after being struck by a car in a San Tan Valley neighborhood late last week. She’s been identified as 4-year-old Mia Preston.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the call around 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, in a neighborhood near Combs Road and Painted Desert Drive. There, emergency crews found Preston suffering serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

The young girl’s death is being investigated by the Pinal County Vehicular Crimes Task Force. PCSO says the driver involved remained on the scene and is “participating with the investigation.” It’s currently unclear if that person could face any charges.
