Welsh presenter serves up glowing review of new restaurant

Former ITV weather presenter Sian Lloyd has raved about a new Swansea restaurant that opened earlier this month. Situated on the SA1 waterfront is The Shed, a hometown project from well-renowned chef Jonathan Woolway, who honed his craft at one of London’s top independent restaurant groups.

After enjoying a meal at The Shed, Sian posted a snap of herself with the head chef on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared her verdict. The 65-year-old told her near 70,000 followers: “To the much anticipated stylish Shed on SA1 waterfront in Swansea.

“Top Chef Jonathan Woolway (ex @SJRestaurant in London) has come home to show Swansea some foodie love.” Sharing her menu choices, Sian added: “We all lapped up the cockle croquettes, and as for the sharing beef pie – incredible! Until next time.”

The Shed opened to the public on February 2 at the former Swansea docklands area. Jonathan told WalesOnline back in November, 2023: “The menu will change every day, sometimes twice a day, depending on what’s good and what’s coming in, which will be eaten at its peak in the area where it was grown and reared. Everything is governed by the season, driven by sort of the ebb and flow of nature.”

He added: “Not only did I want to find a home here but I want to contribute to Swansea, to the food scene in Swansea, because what I’ve learned up in London is priceless.

“And hopefully by coming back then as well young chefs, front of house, and bar people will be able to learn some of what I did without having to move to London to do it.” You can read more about The Shed here. For the latest restaurant reviews sign up to our food and drink newsletter here.
