The No.17 UNC baseball program improved to 7-2 on the season after a midweek beat down to the Longwood Lancers.
It was a hitting party at Bosh Stadium, with the Tar Heels scoring 12 runs on 10 hits. Alberto Osuna kept his bat hot, blasting two home runners and a double on four appearances at the plate. Sophomore pitcher Matthew Matthijs picked up his third win of the season, dealing two strikeouts, while giving up one hit on the mound.
UNC snapped the Lancers three-game win streak while continuing their unblemished home record of 7-0. The Tar Heels will be defending that home record again Friday as they welcome the Princeton Tigers for a weekend series.
Princeton enters the game with only three games under their belt, losing two of three games. It’s a great opportunity for UNC to improve its presence in the top 25, possibly cracking the top 5 next week.
