A 29-year-old Stuart native is the franchisee for a national chain’s first Florida location. It’s a Cajun and Creole restaurant, featuring seafood boils with shrimp, lobster, crab, clams and mussels. Read the full story.

The new restaurant features an extensive menu, live music daily and three bars inside its 10,000-square-foot building. The owners expanded their original location in South Florida with a location on the Treasure Coast. Read the full story.
National chicken wing chain
Wingstop opened a new location Dec. 18, 2023, in St. Lucie West at 986 S.W. St. Lucie West Blvd., Unit 13, Port St. Lucie. In St. Lucie County, the national chicken wing chain already had locations in Darwin Square on Port St. Lucie Boulevard and in Sabal Palm Plaza in Fort Pierce.
Bubble tea, Asian desserts
Mochi Tea Cafe opened Feb. 10 at 1668 S.E. Port St. Lucie Blvd., Port St. Lucie. It serves authentic premium bubble tea and Asian desserts. Boba tea, also known as bubble tea or pearl milk tea, is a beverage that originated in Taiwan.
CLOSED RESTAURANTS
Family-owned casual fine dining
Chris D’anna’s in Stuart closed in December 2023 and was replaced by a new restaurant. The casual fine-dining restaurant got its name from owners Christine and David Ames and their daughter, Anna. Christine ran the front of the house while David was the chef.
Smoothies, juices, healthy food
Jugos Mama in Fort Pierce has closed after about a year in business. Husband-and-wife owners Robert and Gloria Guzman opened it on Dec. 10, 2022, in the Sabal Palm Plaza. It served juices, smoothies, salads, sandwiches and pastries.
