Lehigh Valley fashion retailer closes brick-and-mortar store, continuing operations online

PALMER TWP., Pa. – A business offering unique and high-quality dresses, jackets and other clothing has bid farewell to its physical store in Northampton County as it transitions to a primarily online enterprise.

Day 2 Night Style, offering women’s clothing, shoes and accessories, recently ceased operations after about a year at the Palmer Park Mall in Palmer Township.

Owner Michele Roy plans to continue selling items on the business’ website, day2nightstyle.com, which is being expanded with more merchandise in the coming weeks.

Day 2 Night Style

The newly upgraded online boutique, featuring Day 2 Night Style’s full inventory, will debut on March 15, Roy said.

“The website is currently up and running, but not all of the products are there yet,” Roy said.

“We had a huge store with a lot of product. So, I’m moving all of those items online, and I also have additional products that I’m adding. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Day 2 Night, which opened in February 2023 at the mall, originally operated for a couple of years on Easton’s College Hill before Roy closed that location in 2015 to pursue a career in real estate.

Roy is still in real estate, but she decided to venture back into the worlds of fashion and retail because they give her “a sense of fulfillment,” she said.

Her decision to end brick-and-mortar operations was prompted by a few factors, including a changing retail climate that has an increasing number of customers preferring to shop online.

For individuals who still prefer to shop in-person, they can set up an appointment to visit with Roy and browse items at a small Day 2 Night Style “office suite,” which Roy is maintaining on Fourth Street in downtown Easton.

Appointments can be made by contacting Roy at [email protected] or 732-619-5008.

“I have the office suite set up for people who like to try on clothes or want that personal touch as far as me helping them find something,” Roy said.

“So, it would be one-on-one appointments, and not a store. I still like brick-and-mortar, and that’s my preference when it comes to shopping. I like trying on clothes, and I know others do, too. Everybody has different shapes where items fit slightly different.”

Day 2 Night

Day 2 Night customers can shop women’s shirts, handbags and other items from well-known designers such as Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger along with more unique brands from New York, Los Angeles and other parts of the country, Roy said.

There are jumpsuits, sweaters, blouses, ponchos, palazzo pants, formal and casual dresses, beach wraps and more.

“The business is called Day 2 Night because we have items for daytime and nighttime,” Roy said.

“I especially like pieces that can transition from day to night. We have some popular name brands, but we also have a lot of unique items that you’d never find at a department store.”

Day 2 Night’s target audience is females, ages 25 and older, but Roy notes that the business also carries prom dresses and other fashions for young women.

In addition to clothing, Day 2 Night sells shoes and accessories such as jewelry and handbags.

The business carries clothing in all sizes, including plus-sizes, and Roy purchases many of the items in bulk, passing along the savings to customers.

“I really try to give the customers the best possible deals,” she said.

Day 2 Night focuses on high-quality, chic styles designed to look great and “last through the wear and tear of your day,” a message on the business’ website reads.

The business also sources environmentally friendly products.

“Our goal is to put the fun in functional fashion,” another message reads. “We know that looking stylish can make your whole day better; that’s why we’re committed to being your source for the newest trends.”

At the Palmer Park Mall, Day 2 Night Style’s closure follows the departure of another clothing and accessories store.

American Eagle Outfitters, a leading global specialty retailer offering high-quality, on-trend clothing, accessories and personal care products, closed its American Eagle store at the Palmer Park Mall on Jan. 20.

Tenants joining the mall over the past year include Nestly’s Treasure Boutique, offering unique hats, handbags, jewelry, footwear and more; The Arcade Era, offering more than 60 retro and modern arcade games; Asante Art Gallery, showcasing a variety of African artwork; and Hocca Bubble Tea, specializing in freshly prepared bubble tea and bubble waffles.

Additionally, Cloud City, which buys, sells and trades games, comics, toys and collectibles, moved in July from its two-year-old location at the western end of the mall (near Decor Home Furniture & Mattresses) to a larger location at the eastern end of the mall (near Boscov’s).

Santalexa & Fitness Love, offering human hair extensions and wigs, eyelashes, laminated eyebrows, hair care and weight loss products and more, is coming soon to the mall.

Businesses closing at the mall in 2023 include The Children’s Place clothing store; VR Cafe, which offered virtual reality entertainment; and FYE, a specialty retailer of entertainment and pop culture merchandise.
