EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A man from Fort Bliss was arrested this past Saturday, March 2 for driving while intoxicated after striking a police car in East El Paso, El Paso Police said.

Police say Denzel Malone, 32, was arrested and charged for driving while intoxicated with an open container.

Police say they responded to Trophy Room Bar located on 9627 Sims Dr. just before 2 a.m. that Saturday in reference to a reported shooting.

Police say an officer was parked in the parking lot of the bar when a black Nissan Rouge pulled out of a parking space and struck the police car.

Police say the officer observed the driver, Malone with open containers in the vehicle and determined that he was intoxicated.

Malone was placed under arrest and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $1,500 bond.
