LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) – H-E-B and the South Texas Food Bank are teaming up to fight hunger in our community with a special event.
According to Feeding America, more than 44 million people in the U.S. Face hunger, including one in five children.
With the mission of bringing some of those numbers down, the Texas-based supermarket and the non-profit announced their 15 annual Empty Bowls event.
This year, country star singers Roger Creager and Kevin Fowler will take the stage at this year’s concert.
H-E-B Plus general manager located in north Laredo Gabrela de Leon said that people can expect to have a great time at this year’s event.
“We are looking for donors all the time. We are looking for participants in our communities for what they are able to fight hunger all together here in Texas,” said De Leon. “It’s getting better every year, if you think about the artists that we are getting this year, this is based on what the community requests, not only that we are going to have a great time, but we are giving back to our community, so this is going to be an awesome event for them to join us.”
The fundraiser will take place on Friday, April 12 at the Webb County Fairgrounds.
