NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — North Dakota Game and Fish is offering free seed this growing season to any landowners who are interested in planting food for pheasants.
Rather than a traditional corn or sunflower food plot, officials say the seed mix they will be distributing increases plant diversity — including flowering plants, which are a major diet component for pheasant chicks.
Any landowner who is interested in receiving the seed must sign up online by April 5.
Game and Fish will provide enough seed for a maximum five-acre planting, at no cost to the recipient.
Following this distribution period, the seed mix will be available in April at Game and Fish offices in Bismarck, Jamestown, Devils Lake, Harvey, Dickinson, Williston, and Riverdale.
