BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Bringing three decades of experience to Brunswick County Health and Human Services Department, Catherine Lytch will serve as the Health and Human Services executive director in the county, effective immediately.

The position was recently re-established after a reorganization process, approved in November by the board of commissioners. David Stanley last held the position but was promoted to deputy county manager in 2021.  

According to the county, Lytch has worked in human service delivery and management across North Carolina for 30 years. She has served as director of Brunswick County’s Social Services and Public Housing departments since 2013 and will continue to to supervise the departments until new leadership is selected.

Lytch also will oversee the county’s health, public housing, social, and emergency medical services departments and act as a staff liaison to the health and human services advisory board.

“Cathy has been an integral part of our county’s leadership over the years, and we are pleased to have her take on this expanded role,” Brunswick County Manager Steve Stone said in a press release. “Her dedication and knowledge of our county’s unique needs, challenges, and opportunities will be tremendous assets as she works with our staff and community to further advance some of our most important services.”
