Varanasi: A conference on environmental protection was organised at Sarnath on Sunday on the initiative of an NRI and physicist, Utsav Chaturvedi from the US.
Chaturvedi called upon the citizens to join the campaign to stop population control and indiscriminate exploitation of nature to save the continuously deteriorating environment of the country and the world. The conference was attended by environmental experts, scientists, educationists, and litterateurs from across the country. The experts said that population control and indiscriminate exploitation of nature should be stopped for environmental protection. The ways to prevent misuse of food grains were also discussed in the conference. ISRO scientist Pradeep Kumar was also present, among others. tnn

Tarun Sebastian, an environmental engineer, transformed the 15-acre Hauz Khas Lake in Delhi into a paradise, attracting migratory birds. The Delhi government adopted Tarun’s model in its City of Lakes project, which involved building wetlands and utilizing natural wetlands for sewage treatment and water purification. The project also included the construction of floating wetlands for lake filtration and oxygenation.
