Murder charges have been filed against a man weeks after a woman’s dead body was found in the trunk of a burned vehicle.
Authorities say 70-year-old Rodney Okeith has been charged in the death of 58-year-old Patrice Armstrong. Police say the Los Angeles resident was arrested on Feb. 28 by the Tulare Police Department in Visalia.
Armstrong was found dead last month in the trunk of a burning vehicle when the Tulare Police Department responded to a call on Bardsley Avenue near Laspina Street around 2 a.m. on Feb. 15. Police were originally called with reports of a car crash, but when they arrived, they found Armstrong’s body in the trunk of the car.
Investigators believe Armstrong was murdered in South Los Angeles before her body was taken in the vehicle to Tulare, where it was set on fire.
Authorities arrested 44-year-old Branden Bayilynn Howard the day after the incident for suspicion of murder. No updates have been provided on whether Howard remains in custody.
Okieth is being held for murder with bail set at $3 million.
