Shannen Doherty is taking a drama-filled walk down memory lane.
On the latest episode of her podcast Let’s Be Clear, the 52-year-old star dished on some offscreen beef between her and costar Jennie Garth on Beverly Hills, 90210.
“I recall when tension started happening on the set and it was always awesome to me that the boys got along so well,” she told fellow 90210 alum and podcast guest Brian Austin Green. “You guys were always very supportive of each other and congratulating each other and it wasn’t necessarily the same with the girls.”
Green, 50, butted in to clarify that he felt Doherty was “sugarcoating” things a bit, saying, “I remember it got really rough and competitive for you all. That was not an easy situation to watch.”
He added that he remembered the male actors on the show used to talk about the drama, and recalled the time he and castmate Ian Ziering had to step in to stop “a fight” between Garth and Doherty from escalating.
Doherty admitted that she was “exhausted” at the time, and said she was “going through a lot of my own growing up,” but did recall that particular tiff — and what started it.
“What’s really funny about that fight that was between myself and Jennie, and it started — I don’t know if you remember why it started — she was doing, she was calling it ‘Pants Down Day’ where she would pull the pants on some of the crew members in a funny way, but some of them were getting pretty annoyed with it,” Doherty told Green.
“And then I reversed it and I said, ‘Skirt up day’,” she continued. “And she always wore the men’s Calvin Klein boxer shorts under her clothes. So I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. And so I did ‘Skirt Up Day’ and, oh my God, she lost it on me and I was just not in the mood to back down.”
Reps for Garth did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment on Monday.
Elsewhere in the episode, Green and Doherty also reminisced about nights on the Sunset Strip, paparazzi problems, career highs and lows, love, and even real estate. Listen to Doherty’s Let’s Be Clear podcast below.
