Netflix Is Looking for a New Collaboration with David Nicholls After ‘One Day’

Following the tremendous success of the recent Netflix adaptation of his famous novel One Day, the streaming giant is allegedly in talks with the author to get the rights to his next book, You Are Here.

One Day, which premiered on February 8th, has already grabbed viewers with its distinct story structure and standout performances by Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall. The series, which follows the lives of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew across 20 years on the same date each year, has amassed a sizable audience, with over 15.2 million viewers.

This impressive viewership has motivated Netflix to pursue other collaborations with Nicholls. According to industry sources, conversations are underway to acquire the rights to You Are Here, which is set to be released in April 2024.

The novel tells the narrative of Mickey and Hannah, two strangers who become unexpectedly connected on a life-changing journey across the United States.

“Netflix executives knew they were onto a winner with ‘One Day,’ but the level of success has exceeded expectations,” a source close to the production revealed. “They are already in the process of finalizing a deal for David’s next book, which promises to be just as captivating as his previous works.”

With the announcement of this prospective partnership, One Day fans can look forward to another emotionally moving novel from the gifted author, brought to life by the streaming giant.

It remains to be seen whether You Are Here will appear on Netflix, but one thing is certain: David Nicholls and his devoted following have a bright future ahead of them.
