Dwayne Johnson Buys Ownership of Various Phrases as Copyright

Dwayne Johnson appears to desire to be known by other identities besides “The Rock.”

In fact, Johnson is now the official bearer of the moniker “The most electrifying man in sports and entertainment.”

The actor and former wrestler, whose career surged as a WWE star approximately 20 years ago, has purchased the rights to a number of nicknames, insults, and catchphrases he was known for in his ring days in the 1990s and early 2000s.

The owned phrases include “Candy A*s,” “Jabroni,” and “If you smell what The Rock is cooking.”

Johnson’s ownership of the intellectual property rights to the names and phrases stems from an agreement he made to join the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, a company named Endeavor that combined WWE and the UFC.

Johnson acquired the rights to his iconic ring name, “The Rock,” in a 10-K filing on February 27. TKO also revealed two dozen names and taglines that Johnson currently owns.

All newly owned phrases include:

“The Rock,” “Rocky Maivia,” “Team Corporate,” “Rock Nation,” “The Nation,” “Roody Poo,” “Candy Ass,” “Jabroni,” “If you smell what The Rock is cooking,” “The Samoan Sensation,” “The Blue Chipper,” “The Brahma Bull,” “The People’s Champion,” “The Great One,” “Know Your Role and Shut Your Mouth,” “Team Bring It,” “The Rock Just Bring It,” “The People’s Elbow,” “Rock Bottom,” “Finally, The Rock has come back to…,” “It doesn’t matter what…,” “Blue Hell,” “The millions… (and millions),” “Rockpocalypse,” “Project Rock” as well as “The most electrifying man in sports and entertainment.”

Johnson has authority of related trademarks and service marks, as well as “all other nicknames, caricatures, voice, signature, gestures, routines, costumes or parts of costumes, accessories [and] crowns” that are in any way related to his career as a WWE wrestler, according to the TKO agreement.
