The controversy surrounding the crime thriller Tulsa King takes another turn when writer and showrunner Terence Winter allegedly returns for season 2.

This follows Winter’s resignation last year owing to alleged “creative differences” with the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan.

Winter, an Emmy-winning writer known for his work on The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, headed Tulsa King’s spectacular first season. However, in 2023, news of his departure became public, casting doubt on the project’s viability.

According to insiders close to the production, Winter will now concentrate on writing for season 2, working closely with series star Sylvester Stallone.

This new arrangement apparently allows Winter to limit his interactions with Sheridan, potentially resolving earlier “creative differences.” In addition, the program will hire a new executive producer and director to take over as showrunner after Winter.

“He loves these characters and loved working with Sly, and he was glad his post-strike schedule allowed him to return to write but not run the show,” a source told The Hollywood Reporter.

Winter’s homecoming surprises some, given the reported hostility between him and Sheridan.

Fans have had conflicting reactions to the announcement, with some excited about Winter’s comeback and others apprehensive about the possibility of further creative disagreements.
