Train crashes into car, shuts down Kalamazoo St.


LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Kalamazoo St. on the city’s eastside will be shut down for “a few hours” after a freight train collided with a car.

The crash happened at about 8:30 p.m. Monday night at Hosmer St. and Euclid St. according to a news release from the Lansing Fire Department.

No one was injured when the train hit the sedan. The car was spun off the tracks and clear. The back driver’s side of the vehicle was damaged, fire officials report, but the train was not damaged.

The driver, fire officials said, fled the scene on foot.

The street will remain closed while the train is stopped.
