LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A woman was hit and killed on the Second Street Bridge on Thursday morning.

According to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, the call came in around 6:22 a.m. of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on the Second Street bridge.

Investigation revealed an elderly woman was walking in the roadway of the bridge when she was hit.

The bridge will remain closed for “several hours” while officials investigate, according to Mitchell.

LMPD is also working another fatal pedestrian crash on Interstate 64 eastbound, near Slugger Field.

Traffic is being affected in both areas.

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating.
