LONGS, S.C. (WPDE) — A Loris man was charged with attempted murder after he tried to shoot and run over a woman with a car back in February, according to an incident report.
On Monday, Feb. 19, the Horry County Police Dept. responded to a home on Long Acres Drive in reference to a possible domestic situation in progress.
When officers arrived, the victim reportedly said she asked the suspect if she could go home, but he told her no and kept her from leaving which led to an argument.

The reports state the fight then moved outside and while the victim was near a car, the suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her.
She then told police that she ducked behind the car and heard a shot rang out, according to the reports.
The victim then reportedly began to run and attempted to flee the scene, but the suspect jumped into the car and tried to run her over with it. To escape getting hit by the vehicle, the victim told police that she had to jump into a wooded area.

The homeowner of the residence where the incident occurred, told officers that she heard the suspect and victim fighting. She then reportedly heard the gunshot and went to see what was going on. The reports state that’s when she saw the suspect driving through her yard toward the street.
During the investigation, police said the victim informed them the suspect had stolen a car and switched out the license plates, which they discovered after further investigating was true.
They also found out after gathering the suspect’s information, that he was on a supervised release from the South Carolina Dept. of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.
Vincent Gerald Bellamy was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection to the incident. He is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
