Automotive software company LeddarTech, which is headquartered in Québec City, is collaborating with Arm, a British semiconductor and software design company, to create the next generation of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving technology for software-defined vehicles.

A software-defined vehicle is able to manage its operations, add functionality, and it can allow new features either directly or completely through software. LeddarTech plans to base its next-gen ADAS and self-driving tech on Arm’s Automotive Enhanced (AE) technology.

“This partnership, leveraging the unique capabilities of both organizations, is poised to enhance CPU capabilities for ADAS, accelerate time-to-market, and facilitate the rollout of software-defined vehicles,” said Frantz Saintellemy, President and CEO of LeddarTech, in a statement. “The potential benefits of this collaboration for automotive OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers are significant, promising accelerated innovation and deployment in the automotive industry.”

Suraj Gajendra, Arm’s Vice-President of Products and Solutions, Automotive Line of Business, said software has become ubiquitous from bumper to bumper in modern-day vehicles. “This collaboration with LeddarTech enables OEMs and Tier 1s to easily leverage Arm’s latest generation Automotive Enhanced hardware and software solutions, integrated with LeddarVision, to accelerate the delivery of new AI-enabled ADAS and automated driving capabilities.”

The collaboration between the two companies also highlights the importance of AI, or that AI will have, in the automotive industry.
