Ben Affleck is back with another ad for the coffee brand he likes best. But this time, he acknowledged his friend Matt Damon.
The actor was mistaken for his longtime friend Damon in the commercial for the coffee company’s new deal.
“I’m here for the Dunkin’ Run…campaign, commercial,” said Affleck, who came up with the idea for the ad, directed it, and made it. “It’s a great deal. A large coffee, a donut for a buck. I mean, it’s pretty cool.”
As he talks, the two people working at the donut shop look confused because they don’t know the actor.
“So, I thought it would be real and meta—yes, I’m doing the commercial, but am I doing the commercial?” he said. “You know, I don’t do commercials. I’m a real actor. This is an art form for me.”
In the video, one worker keeps acting like he doesn’t know Affleck even though his coworker tries to remind him. “The Departed, right?” she asked. Damon is the main character in The Departed, while Affleck is not.
Then, Affleck says “The Departed” again while pretending to be upset about the mix-up. The barista asks Affleck, “Are you in The Departed?” Affleck shakes his head and says, “No, I’m Matt Damon.”
After the barista says, “I love him,” he shakes his head in jest to show that he doesn’t agree. “No, I just meant some of his work,” he said with a sly smile.
The worker said as Affleck grimaced and groaned, “He’s had a really steady career.”
Damon and Affleck knew each other when they were kids and lived near Boston. Since Affleck was a child, they have been the best of friends.
Their friendship has led them to work together on many movies, including their Oscar-winning debut, “Good Will Hunting,” and their most recent movies, “The Last Duel” and “Air,” about Nike.
