MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile County Public School System hosted the inaugural regional technology fair Friday morning.
It’s a partnership between Mobile County Public Schools and the University of South Alabama.
“These students work all year on these projects and it’s really the teachers. These teachers show them skills and things that they can do. But it’s amazing what the children end up doing at home and at school,” Dr. Allyson Chappell with MCPSS said.
“Oh, we hope to continue this for many, many years in Mobile County and South,” Miranda Mosley with MCPSS said.
We’re seeing some of the most creative students in our area from third grade all the way to 12th grade.
“I’m very excited. I did something like this last year at my school. Except it wasn’t at big as this. I’m super excited to be here at south. And I’m very grateful for this opportunity,” 6th Grader Carter Hale said.
“We’re doing lots of categories. We’re doing robotics, animation, multi media. I’m doing digital photography and I’m pretty sure that’s all,” 5th Graders Emmalyn and Addalyn Chappell said.
“I’m demonstrating my digital game. So, I just first started by coding it,” 8th Grader Laynee Gorgan said.
And along with those categories, one student who uses sign language to communicate with his mother, is excited to spread his positive message.
“I’ll be doing ocean pollution and how we need to stop it. It’s really bad,” 4th Grader Keyon Mcthune said.
And speaking of positive messages, these students have an important one. Never give up.
“If you want to do technology or anything like that. You should just go for it. Don’t listen to other people and just go for your dreams,” Hale said.
“Don’t listen to others. You may not win. Just practice and keep going,” Chappell said.
