The Purple Spur Society will host their 12th annual Spur Fashion Show with the theme of Odyssey on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Mustang Lounge.

The theme Odyssey will take the audience on an unconscious journey through different stages of life. There will be five scenes representing life progression and 20 models for each scene, with the looks being a part of a narrative storyline.

The fashion show aims to raise $25,000 dollars for the Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex. The proceeds will go toward supporting vulnerable children by providing services such as post-secondary school education funding.

The Purple Spur Society is the longest-standing social club at Western University and the Spur Fashion Show supports a charity related to a different cause every year.

As a post-secondary school club, supporting prospective university students is “something that’s very important for us, to at least give people that opportunity,” says Marilyn Tarque, head of marketing and fourth-year management and organizational studies student.

Each scene will feature five group dances, two solos, two duets and one trio. The dancers will take the stage before the models — telling the story that the scene represents through song, movement and a combination of outfits.

The show also intends to highlight student creations, with a handful of outfits made from scratch by students or styled from clothing donated by local businesses.

“Our overall goal is to make sure that this year’s show is over the top,” says Santiago Rivera, creative director and third-year student in creative arts and production and gender studies. “We wanted to make it very interactive, very creative.”

There will be an interactive intermission halfway through the show where alcohol will be served and audience members will have the opportunity to perform other creatives. An afterparty at Delilah’s is available to VIP members and those who purchased tickets to the afterparty.

Outside of its annual fashion show, the Purple Spur Society also hosts various social events throughout the year, ranging from bowling night to Halloween bars.

Tickets to the event are available at the University Students’ Council storefront and through the Spur Fashion Show’s social media. Regular tickets are being sold for $25, and VIP tickets — including reservation of the first two rows, a goodie bag with an afterparty ticket, lookbook and sponsorship items — are being sold for $25.

Doors to the event open at 6:30 p.m..
