Wildlife Watch: Animal behavior and the total solar eclipse

JEFFERSONVILLE, Vt. (WCAX) – As people around the region prepare to enjoy next month’s total solar eclipse, will wildlife be in the dark?

During the eclipse of 2017, zoo animals acted strangely. Researchers observed giraffes who broke into a gallop, Galápagos tortoises mating, and gorillas getting ready for bed, according to March 2020 report. And scientists are sure to be watching again on April 8th.

Ike Bendavid spoke with Vermont Fish & Wildlife’s Toni Mikula about what to expect on the big day.
