Holi is around the corner and as you celebrate with friends and family, it is important to take care of your electronics like smartphones, TWS earbuds and smartphones from getting damaged due to water, gulal, etc. Here are important tips to keep your gadgets protected from getting damaged this Holi.
Zip-lock bag can keep your electronic devices safe
Affordable and easily available via online and offline retail stores, zip-lock bags are one of the best ways to protect your devices this Holi. You can put your phone, TWS earbuds, etc in the bag. This will prevent water, gulal and other dust particles from entering the devices.
Change the way you unlock the phone
Switch to pattern or PIN lock from biometric authentication methods. This will allow you access to the phone even when your face is covered in colour.
Protect the ports
Water and colours can easily enter into smartphones and other devices via ports, buttons, speaker grille and even earpiece. To prevent this, you can use a tap to cover the openings like speakers, mic, charging port and headphone jack (if available). Also, don’t forget to put your phone in vibration mode to avoid speakers from getting damaged after applying the tape.
Avoid charging your phone when it is wet
Avoid plugging in your phone to charge when it is wet or it has been submerged in water. It is advisable to wait until the phone dries completely before charging.
Hair dryer or blow drying is a big no
Gadgets have delicate components and they can get damaged by blowing hot directly onto them. Also, IP-rated phones come with a sealing, which can also get damaged.
Avoid carrying power bank while playing Holi
Power banks aren’t water resistant and they could get damaged and become risky in case they come in contact with water while playing Holi.
IP rating is good, but don’t bank on it
Modern phones come with IP rating that claims to protect your phones and other devices from water and dust. However, these are tested against the cleanest form of water and also for certain interval of time. Note that no company covers water damage under warranty.
