Wildlife Festival debuting in Abbotsford

Abbotsford is scheduled to have some unique visitors in June.

Animals of many shapes and sizes are set to make Abbotsford Exhibition Park their home at the debut of the Wildlife Festival from June 14 to 16.

The event allows attendees to participate in an interactive experience that highlights animals and their habitats.

According to the event’s website, their mission is to inspire and educate people of all ages by connecting them with animals. The event includes stage shows, educational displays and up-close encounters with animals.

Some of the planned exhibits for Abbotsford include: Living Dragons (reptile experience), Welcome to the Jungle (meet sloths, snakes and other jungle creatures) and Diversity of the Living Kingdom (learning about evolution and adaptation of species).

Organizers recommend at least two hours to take on all that the festival has to offer. Featured animals consist of: sloths, ferrets, snakes, porcupines, kangaroos, turtles, frogs, lizards, pigs, sugar gliders, wallabies and more.

The Wildlife Festival is associated with Cobb’s Exotic Animal Rescue, which is a non-profit division of the Calgary-based Cobb’s Adventure Park.

Many of the animals featured at the event are rescues from homes that could no longer care for them. Others have been obtained from ethical breeders for educational purposes.

Money raised from the festival goes back to the care and support of the animal.

The Wildlife Festival is for all-ages and there are a number of different ticketing options for those attending.
