Neglect Charges After Dead Kitten, Other Live Animals Found In Car On Long Island: SPCA

MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — A 41-year-old Middle Island woman was charged Saturday with several counts of animal neglect, the Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said.

Chief Roy Gross said that on Saturday night detectives with the agency responded to a parking lot on Moreland Road in Commack after having received calls reporting several animals confined in a vehicle without food or water and that one dead kitten was also in the vehicle.

Detectives discovered the kitten, as well as two live kittens, two adult cats, and a Shih Tzu dog, and the animals were taken to a veterinary emergency group, Gross said.
