City’s chief technology officer discusses artificial intelligence

Mayor Eric Adams is championing the city’s newly released plan for the use of Artificial Intelligence in city government.

The plan outlines several key actions, including establishing a framework to govern AI, creating an advisory network, training city employees, and publishing an annual progress report.

At Monday’s announcement, Adams also revealed the city has been making AI-generated robocalls in different languages using his voice, which critics say unethically gives voters the false impression that Adams speaks more languages than he actually does.

Matthew Fraser, the city’s chief technology officer, joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss more.
