Millie Bobby Brown, who is known for her role in “Stranger Things,” made the internet go crazy on Monday when she said she was getting engaged to her boyfriend, Jake Bongiovi.
The 19-year-old actor, who became famous after starring in hit sci-fi shows on Netflix and in Enola Holmes movies, didn’t make a lot of her nearly 63 million followers happy with the news.
Fans are upset with the actress because she got engaged to her boyfriend of two and a half years when she was so young.
One jokester wrote, “What?” In the comments section of Brown’s post, someone wrote, “She’s eleven,” referring to her character’s age on the Netflix show.
“Is she really only 19?” a second person questioned.
A third person said, “OMG, too young,”
“Child marriage shouldn’t happen,” said someone else.
“It’ll be over in 1.5 years,” said a cynic.
“What’s the hurry, girl?” asked someone else.
There were also people who supported this big step in their relationship and defended them by saying they were two adults who loved each other.
One supporter said, “I think it’s very interesting how many people who don’t know Millie Bobby Brown personally AT ALL think it’s their business whether a decision she made was right or wrong LOL.”
“I’m glad she’s happy, and it’s no one else’s business to tell them what they should or shouldn’t do.”
“For everyone who is upset about her being engaged, she isn’t saying that she’s getting married RIGHT AWAY. It just means that it’ll happen and that they made their love for each other official. Just be happy for her; it’s her life at the end of the day,” wrote a second person.
Brown used lyrics from Taylor Swift’s song “Lover” in her earlier post on social media. She and Bongiovi are about to spend their third summer together.
