Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra University baseball team will look to get back on track Wednesday when the Pride travels to Teaneck, New Jersey, for a 3 p.m. meeting against FDU at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. The game is the second against the Knights this season as Hofstra picked up a 3-1 win on March 12 in the home opener at University Field.
Hofstra (11-19) is coming off a loss against Delaware Sunday in the finale of a three-game Coastal Athletic Association series and is 4-4 in its last eight games. The Knights are 12-16 on the season prior to an April 9 game at Penn State.
In the March 12 game, the Pride managed just three hits but it was enough to pick up the win. Dylan Palmer had an RBI single and Alex McCoy added a sacrifice fly in a two-run seventh inning that extended the Hofstra lead to 3-0. FDU would get a run in the eighth, but Mike McKenna pitched the final 1 ⅔ innings for the save with Brian Hart getting the win in relief.
Hofstra is 18-12 all-time versus FDU.
Following Wednesday’s game, the Pride will stay on the road with a weekend series at CAA rival Elon. Game one of the series is Friday at 6 p.m.
