Kim Kardashian on Her New Skincare Mask, Beauty Tips from Kris and Buying ‘Everything’ on TikTok (Exclusive)

When Kim Kardashian needed a specific skincare product to address her skin texture, she followed her strong entrepreneurial spirit and created it. (Would you expect anything less from the mogul?)

The SKKN BY KIM founder tells PEOPLE that her facialist and esthetician first introduced her to products that used pumpkin enzyme, which she found to be great for her skin. The ingredient has been known to be a gentle exfoliant that can improve skin texture, which Kardashian, 42, says is something that has “always been an issue” for her.

“[A pumpkin enzyme mask] became an essential in my skincare routine, so I decided to launch the SKKN BY KIM Resurfacing Mask to share it with consumers,” Kardashian tells PEOPLE. “My team and I wanted to offer a gentle exfoliator, and this mask harnesses the power of fermented pumpkin enzyme and glycolic and lactic acids to help enhance skin texture and complexion, while glycerin works to lock in moisture for an instant, post-facial hydrated glow. I like to use the mask once or twice a week alongside my full SKKN BY KIM regimen.”

The Resurfacing Mask ($65), launched Oct. 4, is great for all skin types, according to a press release from the brand, and pairs perfectly with the newly launched Treatment Brush ($30) as well.

Kardashian says she loves that taking time out of her busy schedule to do a mask gives her those few blissful moments to focus on herself. As a mom of four and an incredibly busy businesswoman, those moments are hard to come by.

“It’s definitely nice to have a moment of self-care — even when I’m busy, I always make time for my skincare routine, especially at night,” she says. The Resurfacing Mask only requires 10 minutes of sitting on the skin, and Kardashian takes full advantage of each of those minutes. Some nights that might mean sitting still and relaxing, but most nights she says she uses those 10 minutes to get organized.

“I will work on sorting my drawers, SKIMS closet and maybe use the time to take video content,” she says.

Because Kardashian has such a packed schedule, she has to make time for her skincare routine no matter what else she has going on — that means you might find her doing a mask in a few unexpected places. But when you care about your skin, you take care of it no matter what.

“I love to mask when I’m traveling, on the plane or at the hotel as part of my prep when I feel like my skin is looking a bit dull, so that I have that fresh, ‘I just received a facial’ look before any big event,” she admits.

That all stems from her desire to keep her skin healthy as she ages, she says. Though she once “used to care about looking younger,” the Kardashians star tells PEOPLE that that is no longer her focus. Instead, she wants to age “gracefully.” To do that, she’s “taking care” of her skin in a way that will help it do that.

She’s sticking to a more “fresh-faced” look these days rather than more of the glam style she used to rock and tapping into some of the tips she’s picked up from mom, Kris Jenner, when it comes to keeping her skin healthy and glowing. Her favorite? To get the best makeup-removing scrub at the end of the night, she uses a hot washcloth. It’s as simple as that.

After learning tips from her mom, Kardashian tells PEOPLE that she hopes to be able to pass her own skincare wisdom to her own children — North, 10, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4.

“Taking care of your skin is such a vital part of my self-care routine, and I hope to instill that philosophy of always making that time for self-care in my children,” she says. “It’s so important to make that time for yourself, for your mind, body and spirit.”

And for the skincare lessons that she didn’t pick up from Jenner, Kardashian says she turned to her esthetician… and TikTok.

“I love TikTok beauty content — I order everything to try, such as skin tools and products for beauty and hair hacks, even though it can be difficult to know what actually works. I always ask my esthetician for her opinion on trends, and she always gives me the best advice.”
