Jeremy Renner Goes to the Premiere Months After Being Crushed by a Snowplow

LOS ANGELES — Jeremy Renner went to the premiere of his new show on Tuesday. This was the end of an amazing comeback for the “Avengers” star, who was almost killed in a snowplow accident less than four months ago.

Family and fans surrounded Renner at the premiere of “Rennervations” in Los Angeles. He posed for pictures and gave interviews, sometimes using a cane and a knee scooter. At one point, as he walked down the carpet, he gave photographers the thumbs-up sign.

Renner was crushed by his 7-ton snowplow on New Year’s Day while trying to help a family member get their car out of the snow at his home in Nevada. The actor said that the accident caused him to break a lot of bones, have his lung collapse, and pierce his liver.

“Rennervations,” which starts Wednesday on Disney+, shows how Renner turns big vehicles into places where young people can hang out in India, Mexico, Chicago, and Nevada. The uses range from a mobile music studio to a truck that filters water for a village in India.

Renner said that his goal was to give young people access to things they might not already have and show them opportunities they might not have known existed.

Renner wrote the show’s theme song while he was working on a different show.

“I use music and the piano to write songs, and it’s like therapy for me,” he said.

Renner has used building and music as ways to express his creativity. He is best known for playing the superhero Hawkeye in the “Avengers” movies and his own spin-off TV series.

Anthony Mackie, who also stars in Marvel movies, is in the show, and Renner said that the reason they get along so well is that they “laugh a lot.”

Renner, who has been nominated for an Oscar twice, told Diane Sawyer in an interview that he would not be “haunted” by the accident, even though he thought he might die from his injuries.
