SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Book Festival has wrapped up its 12th successful year.
Over 100 authors from across the country came to San Antonio on Saturday to show their most recent and most popular work and connect with readers from across the area.
Authors like Hanif Abdurraqib, Lauren Groff, Steve Inskeep, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and Becky Albertalli were able to connect with readers of all ages at the literary event, providing insight into their work, building connections, and promoting San Antonians to read.
Between 15,000 to 20,000 festival goers were expected to enjoy literature at today’s event in Downtown San Antonio.
“For San Antonio to have a free event that is truly family-friendly, that is for all ages, and celebrates books, stories, literature, and imagination; that’s beautiful,” said Lilly Gonzalez, the Executive Director of the San Antonio Book Festival. “That says we’re a community that cares about each other and our stories.”
The event catered to all ages, showcasing children’s authors, all the way to novels that parents would love.
The event also showcased authors hailing from the San Antonio area, with Jenny Browne showcasing Texas, Being: A State of Poems, and Kazu Kibuishi with Waverider – Amulet #9.
The San Antonio Book Festival has been running since 2013 and continues to be free and open to all who enjoy literature.
