UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An NYPD patrol car ran into a cyclist on the Upper East Side Friday, and another biker was also hit by a car Sunday, officials said.
In both cases, the cyclists ran through red lights and were rushed to the hospital as a result of their injuries, police said.
The first collision happened on Friday about 11 p.m., when a marked NYPD patrol car was driving west on East 67th Street toward Second Avenue, a police department spokesperson said.

As the officer drove through the intersection, a man on an e-bike sped through a red light on Second Avenue and collided with the patrol car, officials said.
The cyclist was thrown from the bike, and landed on the car’s windshield, prompting the two officers inside the car to jump out and give help to the wounded man, the spokesperson said.

Officials said the cyclist could not recall if the light was red, but a pair of witnesses at the scene — including a moped driver who has stopped at the intersection — said they watched as the biker sailed through the red light and was hit.
The victim was in stable condition and was brought by medics to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, and complained of pain in his back, right arm, left knee and hip, authorities said.
On Sunday, another cyclist was hit by a driver just blocks away — also on Second Avenue, police said.
A 37-year-old man was driving on Second Avenue about 4:20 p.m. in the far right lane through the intersection at East 62nd Street, officials said.
The driver told police he had a green light when suddenly a 53-year-old on an e-bike traveling west on East 61st Street rode in front of him and was hit by the car, police said.
Medics rushed the victim to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.
