Skaneateles, N.Y. — Five vehicles have been stolen from Skaneateles in the past three weeks, a large uptick in car thefts for the lakeside village.

On average, one car is stolen a year from the village, said Skaneateles Police Chief Scott Heggelke.

“This this is a huge anomaly,” he said.
